The Final Nights

Last known image of the Anathema known as "The Observer".

I am not at ease with the task you have set before me, gentlemen.

To smile before you, nod at every order and request, and pretend to be flattered that you entrusted me with the enormous labor of vivisecting and hanging before all eyes the entrails of the history of Prague, this "prison city," would honestly be to lie to you and to my readers. And if there is one thing I hate, it is doing my work poorly. Therefore, lying to those who read my work would be exactly that. Yet since other motives compel me to satisfy you with such a text, I consider this work payment in full, and the debt erased.
You will also notice I have chosen plain speech. If you want a work full of euphemisms and jests, hire some Degenerate.

Where there were facts, I presented them faithfully; where there were rumors, I gave the most likely outcome; where there were lies, I named them as lies.
This document is gathered from many and varied sources, many of which are no longer among us due to the fatal events of those early, now-passed nights in Prague. For that reason, this text may be read as Prague's testament to its descendants, the current survivors.
So respect these words, and do not misuse them.
